Our writing workshops cover the following topics: Histories, memoirs, poetry, short stories, novels, journalism, plays, scripts, children's books, blogging, and creative non-fiction. Oh, yes, and any other topic you want.
Local writers will coach, and regional writers will visit. We will also help writers publish.
We work closely with Peczuh Printing, Utah’s best printer. They have printed new books, memoirs, music folios and histories for us, in order to preserve and celebrate Carbon County culture.
Carbon County is our focus, so anything local will will be preferred.
WMW will stress multicultural writing - spanning our Greek, Italian, Slavic and Scandinavian roots. The Hispanic and Native-American verbal arts traditions will be included, too.
Workshops can be customized to address your needs. Get several people together who want to learn a certain skill, and we can make it happen.
Open mic events will be organized where creative writers can read their works to friends and strangers. Got a song, a poem, a story? Speak it! We will record it.
Two ongoing writing workshops on Fridays at 5 pm
Children’s Books (weeks 1 and 3) and Memoirs (weeks 2 and 4)
Responding to suggestions from the public, WMW will offer regular workshops for writers of children’s books and memoirs. For now, we will hold these workshops on Friday afternoons at 5 pm. Kids’ books will be the topic on the first and third Friday of each month, while memoir writing (along with other kinds of personal histories) will be on the second and fourth Fridays.
Interact with other writers, learn about options for style and language, discuss how to address your audience. Book design and publishing will be discussed. Workshops will examine good examples and constructively critique everyone’s developing work.
